This program is a part of the Evangeline Atwood Distinguished Speakers Series. Named after the  founder of the Alaska World Affairs Council, Evangeline Atwood, and with the generous support from The Atwood Foundation, these public programs feature world-class experts on a diverse range of topics.

Alaska has an extremely diverse and long-standing relationship with manufacturing. Whether it was Alaska Native tribes "manufacturing" clothing, communities, and art or Big Oil executives "manufacturing" oil to export to the rest of the world, manufacturing has always been a part of our economy — and likely always will be. But what does the future of manufacturing in Alaska realistically look like?

During this panel discussion moderated by NIST's Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), we're sitting down with four Alaskan manufacturing businesses to ask just that: What's challenged them, what's worked for them, and what they think is next. Our panelists come from all across Alaska and have a combined experience of over 50 years manufacturing in Alaska; join us to hear their thoughts, ask your own questions, and think forward — not backwards — for our manufacturing future!

Do you have a business idea but not sure it’s yet viable? Are you looking for technical assistance to launch or grow an existing business? Want to connect with like-minded entrepreneurs and build community? In this session attendees will hear from state-wide organizations who serve a diverse array of entrepreneurs and industries, offering various levels of support including strategic programming, funding, consulting, networking…and more. Attendees will gain a broader understanding of how to take advantage of these local resources!
